Start using Alamarte Cookie Consent Pro

After installing Alamarte Cookie Consent Pro, it is a good idea to review a few settings before using it on your site. This guide explains what to check first, how to perform a basic test and which options you can configure later.

You do not need to configure everything from scratch.

Alamarte Cookie Consent Pro includes default values so you can start using it quickly. You can enable the plugin, review the initial configuration and then customise only the options you need.

1. Check that the plugin is enabled

After installing Alamarte Cookie Consent Pro, check in the Joomla! plugin manager that the plugin is enabled.

Once enabled, the consent notice can be displayed on the public part of the site according to the configured settings.

2. Review the initial configuration

Before publishing it permanently, review the notice texts, available buttons, consent categories and the main presentation options.

You can also check the specific values used for desktop and mobile devices.

3. Review the consent categories

Alamarte Cookie Consent Pro allows consent to be organised using the Necessary, Analytics, Marketing and Preferences categories.

Before blocking content or scripts, identify which category each service used on your site belongs to.

4. Configure access to the privacy policy

If you want to provide access to the privacy policy from the notice, configure the appropriate destination.

Alamarte Cookie Consent Pro can use a menu item, an article or a custom URL. JCE MediaBox integration can also be used when available.

5. Test the site as a visitor

Open the site in a private or incognito window to check its behaviour as a visitor who has not yet saved any preferences.

Check that the notice appears correctly and test the options for accepting, rejecting and customising consent.

6. Add content blocking when needed

The consent notice can initially be used without configuring every advanced blocking scenario.

When you are ready, you can prevent videos, maps, scripts and other external content from loading until the visitor authorises the corresponding category.
